Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley is a nonprofit mentoring organization that matches positive adult mentors (“Bigs”) with youth mentees (“Littles”) in Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Preble Counties. Bigs and Littles meet about four to six hours a month, and when meeting they participate in fun, safe, and inexpensive activities while focusing on academic, social, and behavioral goals. For additional information about our mentoring programs, go to https://www.bbbsmiamivalley.org/programs/

We have dedicated Big Brothers Big Sisters staff who are available to assist potential mentors with our application process. To learn more about that process, see the attached flyer or go to https://www.bbbsmiamivalley.org/become-a-big/.

To make sure we are providing the best possible program for our Littles, there are a few requirements for becoming a Big with BBBS Miami Valley.
  • To be eligible to apply you must:
  • Live in Montgomery, Greene, Preble, or Miami county
  • Be at least 18 years of age; 21 years of age is required for our community based program
  • Have the ability to reach a Little’s school or home. Community based volunteers must have their own reliable car and valid car insurance.
  • Committed to helping young people in a one-on-one match for at least one calendar year.
  • Committed to meeting with a Little for at least 4 hours a month over at least 2 separate activities.

As you think about becoming a Big, please consider the following questions:
  • Am I in a stable place in my life
  • Which program, Community Based, or School Based, is the best fit for you?
  • Can I commit to the program for at least one year?
  • Will I be able to meet with my Little 2-4 times per month, every month?
